Corruption and Morality
Current Issues:
Theme Notebook #5:
This theme notebook is about the terrible situation going on in Egypt (citizens are protesting against the government) and how it links to my themes.
Corruption: In Egypt, there is only one "president" Hosni Mubarak. He links to my themes because he is corrupt and he has kept power for a very long time.
Morality: Links to my theme because the people of Egypt want the system to be moral, and fair, and for there to be fair elections so that they can choose their own people to lead there country.

Theme Notebook #4:
This theme notebook is the only one where I could not find one thing to represent both my themes.
The news article I have chosen to represent corruption is http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6AO19P20101125- Written by Paul de Bendern and Jui Chakravorty
This news article is about a corruption scandal in India. It represents corruption because it is about politicians abusing their power for money, or something that they want. In India, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) arrested 5 people for allegedly for taking bribes to facilitate large corporal loans. As quoted by head of RPG Foundation "All these things create a very bad image about the country and it's kind of loss of faith in the system,"
The news article I have chosen to represent Morality is

Theme Notebook #3:
The picture book I have chosen to represent Corruption and Morality is the book, Fox, a fictional but meaningful book.
This story is about a dog and a bird, who are living together, happily, until the vicious fox comes and breaks the bond with brainwashing and smart tactics.
This story represents Corruption because Fox corrupts Dog and Bird's friendship by coming to them and trying to split them up. Fox corrupts Bird because he makes Bird think that Dog is not good, and useless.
It also represents Morality because even after Bird cannot fly, Dog still takes care of Bird. He feeds Bird, helps Bird, and even tries to make Bird feel the sensation of flying once again.
Short Stories:
Theme Notebook #2
The short story that I have chosen to represent Corruption And Morality is The Blokes. It is written by Alan Gibbons.
In this story, there is a boy (John Keenan) who has to make a choice whether to stick with his friend or betray him for a powerful gang at school.
This story links to corruption because it is not about political corruption, but about corruption in school. It shows corruption because the Blokes (white supremacists) use their power in a bad way, to harm foreigners and non-whites. It also shows morality because even after the atrocities commited by the Blokes, and something seemingly unforgivable by John, Hashim still forgives John and acts in a pleasant way towards the Blokes.

Theme Notebook #1
The news article I have chosen to represent Corruption and Morality is below.
It is by CNN News
The connection to my theme is:
In this article, it is about a man called Melosevic. After many years of fighting, he stepped up and fought for Kosovans that were getting descriminated against, but he got corrupt and he was too powerful (big for his boots), and this shows corruption. This article also shows morality because it is about a girl called Fatmire Feka, who is peacefully trying to unite the 2 races of KosovoC
